Abstract The detection of hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S) is essential because its toxicity and abundance in the environment. Hence, there an urgent requisite to develop a highly sensitive economical H S system. Herein, zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) thin film-based K + -exchanged optical waveguide (OWG) gas sensor was developed for by using spin coating. showed excellent sensing performance at room temperature with wide linear range (0.1 ppm–500 ppm), reproducibility, stability, low limit 0.1 ppm. significant prospect development cost-effective sensors.
